- Alexander Wayne Berry, 27, of Belgrade, made a first appearance Wednesday on a felony charge of theft.

According to the complaint, the Willmar Police Department received a call from an angry man on July 2 who believed Berry had stolen valuable coins from his residence.

When police arrived at the residence on the 800 block of 4th Street Southwest in Willmar, the man reported about $2,500 worth of missing jewelry and coins.

An individual from Security Coin and Pawn also reported to police that he had recently purchased coins from Berry.

After receiving this information, police arrived at Berry’s residence. According to the complaint, Berry admitted to police that he had pawned some of the items and had other stolen items in his car.

Berry claimed that he had purchased coins and silver certificates from the man previous to the incident, but thought he paid too much and, therefore, took other coins and jewelry on July 2.

Norstedt was sentenced to 180 days in Kandiyohi County Jail with credit for 68 days served. Norstedt plead guilty to felony third degree burglary on July 14. As part of a plea agreement, additional charges of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree drug possession, possession of a synthetic cannabinoid and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.

The charges stem from a break-in and theft reported in March at a New London home. Tools, a four-wheeler and several other items were stolen, and most of them ended up being sold.

During the course of an investigation by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff ’s Office, Norstedt was identified as a possible suspect. At the time he was arrested, drug paraphernalia and substances later identified as methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana were found on him.
