Cleaning staffer injured in accident at Sparboe Farms in Litchfield

LITCHFIELD - A 26-year-old female was airlifted to the hospital for head injuries after her hair became entangled in machinery Tuesday inside a production building in Meeker County.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the accident around 6:32 p.m. at Sparboe Farms in the 6500 block of U.S. Highway 12, Litchfield. The production facility is located in Darwin Township, east of Litchfield.

The injured female had been cleaning an egg grading machine when her hair became entangled in the machine. She was sub-contracted by JNS Cleaning Service of Litchfield to work at Sparboe Farms.

She was transported by Gold Cross ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital and later flown to North Memorial Hospital by helicopter.

Assisting at on scene were Litchfield Rescue Squad and Litchfield Police Department.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department is investigating this case.
