Two men hurt in knife assault

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Police Department is investigating an assault with a knife that left two men injured early Sunday morning. Officers were called at 1:09 a.m. to a loud gathering at 1208 Becker Ave. S.E. Also, numerous other calls were made at about the same time about a loud gathering and a fight.

A police report identified the injured individuals as Martin Gregerio Munoz, 22, and Jason James Maldonado, 22, both of Willmar. They were taken to Rice Hospital in Willmar where Munoz was treated and released. No information was available from Rice Hospital on Maldonado.

Police arrested Dimas Javier Maldonado, 21, of Willmar on outstanding warrants but not in connection with the stabbing.


WILLMAR -- Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:33 p.m. Saturday on County Road 5, one-half mile south of Horizon Hills Road. They were Alissa Marie Orsten, 20, of Benson and Lakshantha Puwanpathirana, 24, of Fargo, N.D. They were taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Both were treated and released. No other information was available.


WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old Willmar man was arrested Saturday by Willmar police officers on charges of terroristic threats, possessing a dangerous weapon, underage consumption and disorderly conduct. The incident involved trespassing in the 300 block of High Avenue Northeast.


WILLMAR -- A 50-inch plasma TV, speakers and a mini-scooter were taken from a home at Regency East trailer park, 1400 Lakeland Dr. The burglary and theft were reported Saturday to the Willmar Police Department.


WILLMAR -- The break-in of a truck parked in the 1800 block of 13th Street Southeast was reported on Friday evening to the Willmar Police Department. Taken were two 12-inch Kicker speakers valued at $500, a Sony detachable CD player and iPod valued at $450, and two Gucci sunglasses valued at $350 each.

NEW LONDON -- An Annandale man reported to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office on Sunday that a Honda generator was stolen from a campsite at Sibley State Park.

Criminal damage

WILLMAR -- the Willmar Police Department received reports of criminal damage to property over the weekend. The reports include: two windows were broken at a business located in the 700 block of Litchfield Avenue Southeast; windshield smashed on a 2005 Pontiac parked in the 1900 block of Ninth Street Southeast; and windows on a house and windows on several vehicles were broken, all in the 1200 block of Becker Avenue Southeast.

Fire call

NEW LONDON -- The New London Fire Department was called at 1:56 a.m. Sunday to a car fire in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue. An Audi was reported to be engulfed but unoccupied. The owner, a 22-year-old Willmar man, was arrested for third-degree refusal to test for driving while impaired. No other information was available.
