WILLMAR -- Both drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash around 7:40 a.m. today north of Willmar refused medical attention from emergency responders.

According to the State Patrol, Leroy Ekstrom, 88, of Willmar, was northbound on Highway 71/23 and attempting to turn left and cross the southbound lanes of traffic onto 48th Avenue when his 1968 Ford Galaxy was struck by a southbound Duininck Company concrete truck driven by John Francis Woodring, 45, of Clara City.

According to the patrol, the concrete truck, which was empty, left 170 feet of skid marks on the highway before the location of the impact along the right side of the highway. After the impact, the truck rolled into the ditch onto its passenger side.

Traffic along the highway was reduced to one lane for more than one hour as law enforcement and emergency responders cleared the scene. Also responding were the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office and Rescue Squad, Willmar Fire Department and MnDOT crews.
