Winter Fitness Expo is Monday

WILLMAR -- The community's first Winter Fitness Expo will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church. Everyone is invited to stop by and learn about winter fitness opportunities and gear.

Local businesses and organizations will be on hand with displays and information about exercise programs and equipment. The event is being held in conjunction with the annual spaghetti dinner of the Willmar High School Nordic ski team and Willmar Nordic Ski Club.

In addition to the exhibits, a collection box will be available for new and good used T-shirts donated to E-Quip Africa, which uses them to pack computers for shipping and for clothing.

The Willmar Nordic Ski Club owns cross-country ski trail grooming equipment, which is used on a five-kilometer trail starting from the Eagle Creek Golf Course. Last year trail grooming was expanded to include Robbins Island, using city of Willmar equipment. Trails are groomed for both traditional and skate skiing.

Proceeds from the spaghetti dinner will be used for public cross-country ski trails in Willmar and to support the high school Nordic ski team. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat dinner are $7 for adults, $5 for students and $20 for a family. It is not necessary to buy a ticket for the spaghetti dinner to visit the fitness expo displays.

Advance tickets are available from the exhibitors and members of the Willmar High School Nordic ski team and the Willmar Nordic Ski Club. For more information, contact Forrest Peterson at 320-262-2664,, or Tim Daniels, 320-222-9622,
