Update: Railroad employee injured in Willmar yard accident, airlifted to trauma center

Update 11:15 a.m.

A railroad employee in his 30s was injured and trapped under a rail car about 9 a.m. this morning in an accident at the BNSF Railway yard in Willmar, Minn.

The railroad accident happen near the pedestrian bridge in the Willmar railroad yard.

A surgeon and medical team was called in to assist rescue personnel in extracting the man from under the rail car.

The injured man was extracted shortly before 11 a.m. and then air lifted by helicopter from the railroad yard to St. Cloud Hospital.

Willmar law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the accident.
