Man tells Willmar police he was involved in suspected beating

WILLMAR -- The investigation into a Feb. 28 incident that left a Willmar man with a broken jaw and other injuries is continuing and is being aided by a man who told law enforcement that he was involved.

According to Willmar Police Chief David Wyffels, the man on Friday voluntarily reported his involvement to police. Wyffels said the man knew Ted Jeffrey Scott Linde, 19, of Willmar.

The incident was not a random crime and there is no danger to the public, Wyffels said.

Linde was found lying in a parking lot along the 500 block of Lakeland Drive Southeast. He was bleeding from his head and was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for treatment.

He was then transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

According to a website, Linde had surgery Thursday to repair his jaw and was expected to be transferred sometime Monday to the rehabilitation center at HCMC.

A police department investigator was to interview Linde on Monday, Wyffels said.
