WILLMAR -- A Willmar couple made their first court appearances Tuesday on felony charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman Sunday at a home in Regency Estates West.

Elizabeth Rodriguez, 20, and Christopher Ruiz, 24, both face four first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges in Kandiyohi County District Court. Unconditional bail was set at $100,000 for both. Their next court appearances are April 1.

According to the complaints, an 18-year-old woman reported the assault to police around 3:50 a.m. Sunday. The woman said she met Rodriguez in a restroom at the Caribbean Club, where she snorted a white substance she believed to be cocaine.

She said Rodriguez made a sexual advance at her while they were in a bathroom stall. The woman said she rebuffed the advance, and Rodriguez later bought her several mixed drinks.

Both women later went to Regency West, and entered a home with Ruiz. The woman said Rodriguez performed a sex act on her and she blacked out. When she regained consciousness, the woman said Rodriguez and Ruiz were both on top of her and Ruiz was sexually assaulting her.

The woman blacked out again. She regained consciousness and witnessed Ruiz and Rodriguez having sex.

The woman positively identified both Rodriguez and Ruiz as her attackers in a photo lineup. Ruiz was interviewed and allegedly denied any sexual conduct with the woman. Rodriguez refused to speak to law enforcement.
