Kandiyohi County Dairy Princess candidates sought

WILLMAR — The American Dairy Association of Kandiyohi County seeks candidates to participate in the 2013 Dairy Princess Program. Dairy princesses serve as goodwill ambassadors for the dairy industry by appearing at promotional events, speaking to consumers and news media and participating in parades.

The annual Kandiyohi County Dairy Princess Banquet and Coronation will be at 7:30 p.m. March 2 at the Kandi Entertainment Center in Willmar. The dairy princess contest is a program of the dairy promotion check-off, which works to increase demand for dairy products.

A candidate must be a high school graduate by July 1, 2013, and not yet 24 years old by July 1, 2013. She or her parents (or legal guardians) must be actively engaged in the production of milk for sale to a licensed plant during the current year. A candidate also qualifies if she or her parents (or legal guardians) are employed on a dairy farm in a dairy-related capacity.

Contestants are judged on their communications skills, personality, enthusiasm for dairy promotion and general knowledge of the dairy industry.
