Willmar School Board meets Wednesday
WILLMAR — The new elementary school in Willmar has apparently experienced some construction delays.
According to a report to be discussed by the School Board at its 7 p.m. Wednesday meeting, school construction is 40 working days behind school for a variety of reasons. The school is scheduled to open in August.
The board is expected to choose a name for the new school Wednesday and to award contracts for the outdoor finishing work on the elementary school.
The meeting was set for Wednesday to accommodate training for new board members.
An orientation session for board members on the district's strategic plan is scheduled for 4:30 to 7 p.m. The regular board meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
A report on the construction projects which was written Friday lists delays with selecting a site, weather conditions, issuing bid packages and the performance of some contractors as the reasons for the delay. The report is from R.A. Morton of St. Cloud, the district's construction manager.
Also on the agenda is adoption of the 2016-17 achievement and integration plan and budget and a closed meeting to discuss labor negotiations strategy regarding the Education Minnesota-Willmar contract.
