Woman rescued after falling through ice on Mary Lake, northwest of Willmar
NEW LONDON — A woman is recovering Monday evening after falling through the ice on Mary Lake, northwest of Willmar, while attempting to rescue her dog out on the frozen lake.
Another family member went into the water and broke ice to rescue the woman and get her to shore, according to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.
Emergency services were called around 3:20 p.m. to a residence on 157th Avenue Northwest, where family was attempting to get the woman warm. She was transported to Rice Hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia.
"At last report, a family member said she was doing well," the news release stated.
The Sheriff's Office did not provide any information about the dog.
