New London-Spicer community service day
New London-Spicer Middle School sent students out to 20 different locations around the New London-Spicer area for the 23rd year. The volunteer day began in 1994.
Students and teachers worked together to choose their volunteer projects. A few of the locations where students and teachers volunteered include Prairie Woods Elementary School in New London, Cub Foods in Willmar, the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter in Willmar and the Old Wagon Campground in New London.
Rachel Streich's class volunteered to do yard work at Barb Sandven's home. The students each worked on different areas of the yard from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
Jill Blomker's class held a basketball tournament at the Peace Lutheran Church gymnasium to raise money for Clifton Nyulahe, a boy with medical needs, from Tanzania. Nyulahe was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
New London-Spicer middle school is raising money for his chemotherapy treatments. People in the area who are interested in donating to Nyulahe's fund can send a check to New London-Spicer middle school and note the check is for Clifton Nyulahe.
