Grove City man charged with sexual assault of girl
LITCHFIELD — A Grove City man accused of raping a young girl multiple times over a three-year period was charged this week with three felonies.
Christopher Allen Bengtson, 42, faces three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.
Bengtson made a first court appearance Monday in Meeker County District Court where Judge Stephanie Beckman set unconditional bail at $150,000 and conditional bail at $75,000.
According to the criminal complaint, a 15-year-old girl told her school counselor on May 19 that Bengtson had sexually assaulted her that morning at a residence in Union Grove Township.
The girl told the counselor that Bengtson had been sexually abusing her for the past three years.
The girl was taken to the hospital where "evidence consistent with sexual assault was collected," according to the complaint.
She was then taken to the Meeker County Law Enforcement Center, where she provided a detailed statement.
According to the complaint, the girl told police that Bengtson began abusing her shortly after she turned 13 years old. The assaults allegedly happened about twice a month, starting in 2014.
Bengtson was arrested May 19 at his residence, where a search warrant allegedly turned up evidence that corroborated the girl's statement.
Bengtson is currently being held in the Meeker County Jail.
His next court appearance is June 22.
