Child injured in dirt bike mishap

SPICER — A 2-year-old boy was injured Tuesday evening while riding a child's dirt bike near Lake Florida in Lake Andrew Township.

According to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, authorities were called at about 6:45 p.m. to an area along 10th Street Northeast north of 131st Avenue Northeast, about one mile east of Lake Florida.

The release said the child was riding an electric-powered dirt bike made for children ages 2 to 5, and he was under the supervision of a parent. The child reportedly was riding in the yard, lost control and collided with a barbed wire fence.

He sustained non-life threatening injuries to his abdomen and was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital by Willmar Ambulance Service, according to the release.
