OLIVIA — Five people, including two children, were injured in a crash Friday evening at U.S. Highway 71 North and Highway 212 on the west edge of Olivia.

The Minnesota State Patrol said a 2014 Toyota driven by Osman Hassan Dini, 33, of Marshall, was westbound on Highway 212 and turning to go north on Highway 71 and apparently failed to stay in the lane, colliding with a southbound 2008 Lexus driven by Melissa Ann Peterson, 50, of Olivia.

Both drivers were taken to RC Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Three passengers in the Toyota also sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They were identified as Deeqo H. Osman, 35; Zuheyma Hassan Osman, 3; and Zuhri Hassan Osman, 3. All are from Marshall.

The Olivia Police Department, Olivia Ambulance and Renville County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.

RENVILLE — A driver was seriously injured in a crash shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 212 east of Renville.

Bradley Allen Greenwald, 31, of Jordan, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Greenwald was eastbound on Highway 212 when his 2009 Ford Fusion apparently crossed the center line and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, causing it to go into the north ditch.

The driver of the Tahoe was identified as Carmen Rae Melges-Kienholz, 54, of Bird Island. She was taken to RC Hospital in Olivia for treatment of injuries.
