Health organizations recognized for flu shot rates
Area health facilities are among those recognized by the Minnesota Department of Health FluSafe for achieving high flu vaccination rates for their workforce during the 2016-17 influenza season.
Those earning a blue ribbon for a vaccination rate of 90 percent or more included: Swift County-Benson Hospital, Benson; Johnson Memorial Hospital, Dawson; Glacial Ridge Health System, Glenwood; Granite Falls Municipal Hospital, Granite Falls;
Meeker Memorial Hospital, Litchfield; Madison Healthcare Services: Madison Hospital and Madison Lutheran Home, Madison; RC Hospital and Clinics, Olivia; CentraCare Health, Paynesville; Redwood Area Hospital, Redwood Falls; Rice Care Center, Willmar.
Those earning a red ribbon for vaccination rates of 80 to 89 percent included: Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar.
Those earning a white ribbon for vaccination rates of 70 to 79 percent included: Belgrade Nursing Home, Belgrade; Johnson Memorial Health Services nursing home, Dawson.
The Health Department's FluSafe program promotes influenza vaccination to help protect patients and nursing home residents and keep the health care workforce healthy during flu season.
A total of 84 hospitals and 65 nursing homes participated last year. More than 90 percent qualified for a ribbon. Their vaccination rates were documented through the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection.
