Willmar Airport Master Plan open house is Thursday

Briana Sanchez / Tribune

WILLMAR — There will be an informational open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Willmar Municipal Airport to give the public an opportunity to learn about the Airport Master Plan.

There will be information and display boards for the public to review, along with a presentation. Airport staff and members will also be on hand to answer questions.

The master plan will lay out the short-, mid-, and long-term development plans for the airport.

Bolton & Menk, along with a master plan advisory group, has been working on updating the plan since December. The plan has not been updated for 20 years.

The contract with Bolton & Menk to create the plan, which was approved by the City Council in June, costs $305,000. The city will be paying only 5 percent of that. The rest of the funding comes from the Federal Aviation Administration and the state.

Those with any questions about the public meeting can contact Megan DeSchepper, Willmar planner and airport manager, at mdeschepper@willmarmn.gov or 320-235-8311.
