Cokato man arrested on child porn charges; thousands of images on computer
LITCHFIELD — A 30-year-old Cokato man made his first appearance Monday in Meeker County District Court on 68 felony charges of possession of child pornography
According to a news release from Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, Bryan Robert Moham, formerly of Dassel, was arrested Friday on the charges by the Wright County Sheriff’s office and transferred to the custody of the Meeker County Sheriff’s office.
Moham’s next court appearance is March 5.
The arrest came after investigation determined a person was allegedly possessing child pornography in the city of Dassel, based on a host computer with an internet protocol address and owner in that city.
Paynesville man killed in rollover
PAYNESVILLE — A 45-year-old Paynesville man was pronounced dead at the Paynesville Hospital after a one-vehicle rollover crash around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night north of Paynesville.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Darrin John Schaefer was driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado south on County Road 195 in Zion Township when the pickup left the roadway, rolled onto its side and then landed in a drainage ditch. Schaefer was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected out of the passenger side window of the vehicle.
The incident is under investigation. Also responding were the St. Martin Fire and Rescue squads and the Paynesville Ambulance.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Moham’s residence along the 200 block of Fourth Street in Dassel and seized a computer containing child pornographic images. The examination of the computer revealed 4,607 documented images and videos confirmed to be child pornographic images of victims under the age of 16 and originating from throughout the United States and other various countries worldwide.
SPICER — The theft of fishing equipment was reported around 9 a.m. Monday on Green Lake.
SUNBURG — The burglary of a business was reported around 6:30 a.m. Monday along Central Avenue.
WILLMAR — A 22-year-old woman was arrested on charges of giving a false name to a peace officer, driving after revocation and open bottle around 10:15 p.m. Friday along the 700 block of First Street South.
