Atwater, Minn., to host fundraiser for Wounded Warrior Project

ATWATER — A fundraiser on behalf of the Wounded Warriors Project will be June 29 in Atwater.

It will feature a golfing tournament, volleyball competition, and an exhibition performance by members of the U.S. Paralympic Sitting Volleyball Team.

The “Tournament of Duty 2013” fundraiser will be held on the Island Pine Golf Club course and the adjacent Atwater city park.

There are still openings for teams in the golf and volleyball tournaments, according to Paul White, a financial consultant with Thrivent Financial in Litchfield.

At least four players and assistant Coach Cara Lang from the U.S. Paralympic team that returned from London, England, in 2012 with a silver medal are expected.

White was named Thrivent Financial’s volunteer of the year in 2012, and designated the $25,000 award that comes with it to the Wounded Warrior Project. He’s hoping to continue the support for the Wounded Warrior Project.
