For several weeks this summer, Willmar drivers have dealt with several street improvement projects. Now those street construction projects are starting to wrap up. The intersections at Litchfield Avenue and First Street, shown in the background here, and at Willmar Avenue and First Street are now open. Work on Lakeland Drive is nearing completion.

A fireman prepares open the hydrant as he and other firefighters respond to a fire Monday at The James House, a halfway home in Willmar for men recovering from addiction. The residential facility, at 1423 Kandiyohi Ave. S.W., was struck by lightning during a brief storm. All the residents and staff escaped the building without injuries. play button

The Willmar Fire Department is at the scene of a house fire at 1423 S.W. Kandiyohi Avenue.  The home was reportedly struck by lightning about noon today.
