Des Moines police collect PJs for abuse victims
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Abuse victims who have to flee their homes without many of their belongings may not have to worry about at least one part of their wardrobe.
Des Moines police are teaming up with Helen's Pajama Party to collect new pajamas for women in domestic violence shelters.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lori Lavorato is asking for donations of brand new pajamas. To aid in the collection, boxes have been placed in the main hallway and the roll call room of the Des Moines Police Station.
Des Moines police will be helping Helen's Pajama Party collect pajamas through the end of the month.
Helen's Pajama Party says pajamas were collected last year for every woman in a domestic violence shelter in Iowa.
