Mike Connelly with the National Weather Service tells South Dakota Public Radio that the storms dropped as much as an inch and a half of rain and packed winds in excess of 60 mph, leading to tree damage and power outages in the region.
KELO-TV reports that the winds damaged boats and docks at Lake Madison. Area residents estimate as many as 100 properties suffered damage.
