Darwin collision results in diesel fuel leak

DARWIN — No injuries were reported but an estimated 150 to 180 gallons of diesel fuel leaked onto U.S. Highway 12 following a collision Thursday night between a car and a semi-truck in Darwin.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office said authorities responded at 9:24 p.m. after a 2004 Ford Taurus driven north on County Road 14 by Katelyn Knutson, 16, of Watkins and a westbound 2010 International Lonestar truck driven by David Rogalla, 46, of Litchfield collided.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Dassel Fire and Rescue, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and Gold Cross Ambulance responded.

Responding units learned that no one needed medical attention but that diesel fuel had leaked onto U.S. Highway 12. J.R. Oil Company of Dassel responded to assist with cleanup. MnDOT and Wenk Associates of Maple Plain also assisted with the cleanup.

The State Patrol is investigating the collision.
