Authorities continue seeking person of interest in Granite Falls homicide

Law authorities are searching for Andrew Joseph Dikeen, who has been named a person of interest in Monday's Granite Falls homicide.

GRANITE FALLS — Law enforcement authorities continue looking today for Andrew Joseph Dikken, 28, of Granite Falls as a person of interest in connection with an apparent homicide early Monday morning in Granite Falls.

Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Bill Flaten said this morning that Dikken has not been located and Flaten asks the public to call the Granite Falls Police Department, Yellow Medicine Sheriff’s Office or call 911. Authorities say Dikken should not be approached as he may be armed and dangerous.

Dikken is believed to be driving a 1996 brown GMC Sierra club cab pickup with a topper and Minnesota license number 032-GGL.

Granite Falls Police responded to a 911 call at 3:30 a.m. Monday to the 1100 block of Prentice Street and found a 28-year-old woman dead of apparent gunshot wounds and a critically injured 28-year-old man.

The male victim was transported to Granite Falls Hospital by ambulance and later transported by air to Hennepin County Medical Center.

During the preliminary investigation, Dikken was identified as a person of interest.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting Granite Falls Police and the sheriff’s office in the investigation.

Flaten said everybody involved in the investigation is a little tired.

“It’s a lot for a couple of small agencies to take on, so we’re glad to have the help of everybody that’s been here to help,’’ Flaten said.

He believes the police department will release the names of the victims sometime today.
