Willmar Wal-Mart evacuated, police investigating incident

WILLMAR — Store officials evacuated the Willmar Wal-Mart Supercenter this afternoon after a person called the store and reported they believed there was a bomb in the building.

According to Willmar Police Capt. Jim Felt, officers were called to the store just before 3:30 p.m. and went through the store, finding no suspicious devices or articles.

The Willmar Fire Department was also dispatched to the store and placed on standby.

The store was then reopened for business and all emergency personnel were cleared around 3:55 p.m.

The police are continuing to follow up on the incident and are working to track the telephone call reporting the bomb, Felt said.
