Death of Eden Valley child under investigation

LITCHFIELD -- The Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Eden Valley Police Department and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child on Monday in Eden Valley.

According to a news release from Sheriff Mike Hirman, Eden Valley Police Chief Ernie Junker and County Attorney Stephanie Beckman, the sheriff's office received an emergency call around 2:40 p.m. Monday of a child not breathing at a home along Maple Street.

Deputies, along the Eden Valley Police and Rescue squad and the Watkins Ambulance responded. The child was transported to Paynesville Hospital, where the toddler was pronounced dead.

The name and gender of the child, or family information has not been released. More information will become available as the case progresses, according to the release.
