One dead, one seriously hurt in Forest Prairie Township crash

WATKINS -- A 23-year-old man from rural Watkins was killed Friday in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 642nd Avenue and 365th Street in Forest Prairie Township.

According to a news release from Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, Justin Allen Schoutz was driving a 1996 Saturn northbound on 642nd Avenue and was struck around 4:15 p.m. by a 1995 Jeep driven by Andrew John Glimsdal, 23, of Kimball. Glimsdal was eastbound on 365th Street, went through a yield sign and struck the car, the release said.

Schoutz was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle, Brandon Scott Schoutz, 18, was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital. He is in serious condition.

Glimsdal was treated and released at Meeker County Hospital.

The crash is under investigation by the sheriff's office. The Minnesota State Patrol, along with the Watkins ambulance, fire and rescue crews, assisted at the scene.
