MPCA plans to reissue permit for demolition landfill near Hawick
WILLMAR — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has made a preliminary decision to reissue a permit for a demolition disposal landfill in Roseville Township in Kandiyohi County.
The demolition landfill is located in Section 28 of Roseville Township near Hawick and is operated by C&D Landfill Inc. of Monticello.
The MPCA issued a public notice this week of its intention to reissue the permit.
According to the MPCA notice, the landfill was first permitted in 2009. Under the current permit, the facility is allowed to store 126,000 cubic yards of waste and cover material. It has a liner and leachate collection system. The leachate is collected and treated off site.
The new permit will allow an additional 560,600 cubic yards of demolition waste and cover material. The new capacity is expected to allow for 10 years of disposal, and the permit would be for a 10-year time period.
