Willmar man injured at gravel pit recovering
WILLMAR -- Jason Anthony Hamstad, 34, of Willmar, continues to recover at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis following an accident Thursday at Monson gravel pit north of Willmar.
Hamstad, 34, underwent another surgery Monday, friends reported on his CaringBridge.org webpage. Hamstad remains in a great deal of pain, but is making progress.
He was able to sit up and is in good spirits, according to the latest website postings.
He was injured while working on a conveyor belt and fell 20 feet.
He suffered broken bones in his neck and back, and his arm was amputated.
The website said Hamstad and his family have been uplifted by the outpouring of support.
