Woman, facing 2 felonies for fatal accident

WILLMAR -- Sarah Lynn Klein, 30, of Eden Valley, made her first court appearance Monday on criminal vehicular homicide charges for a motor vehicle crash Saturday that killed two Spicer residents.

Unconditional bail was set at $200,000 in Meeker County District Court. Klein's next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 19.

James R. Nelson, 50, and Amy J. Langford, 43, both died when the 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle they were riding was struck from behind by a 2005 Chevy van driven by Klein.

The crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. Saturday along State Highway 55 in Eden Valley.

Klein was arrested by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper after she failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a preliminary breath test. She had an alcohol concentration of 0.188.

According to the criminal complaint, she was taken by the trooper to Paynesville Area Hospital where a blood sample was taken.

According to the complaint, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Klein allegedly admitted to driving the van and that she was coming from Eden Valley, tried to avoid the bike and was not sure if she had hit it
