Atwater offers unique art venue
ATWATER -- The opening of Robert Mattson's retrospective exhibit and the performance by Willie Murphy offers an opportunity to visit a unique art venue as well.
ARTmeyerson is located in the former Strong Ford Garage in Atwater. It was founded by Sue Meyerson and her daughter Ella, both of Atwater. They are mother and sister to an internationally known artist, Jin Meyerson.
ARTmeyerson is offered as an attempt to make contemporary art more accessible and approachable to a broader audience, according to information from the founders.
Strong Motor was the second-oldest Ford dealership in Minnesota, they point out. Its showroom is now the Strong Studio for Marjorie Nilssen, artist and Ridgewater College arts instructor.
The building also offers opportunities for students to gather for informal arts talks and work outside the classroom. The building offers ample space for exhibits and musical performances, and includes an historic Minnesota saloon bar. It's available for special music and other events.
