West central Minn. schools starting late today
WILLMAR -- Most area schools are starting two hours late today as the region deals with a combination of icy, snow-compacted roads and a winter storm warning that's in effect until noon.
State and county road crews are out this morning plowing and sanding roads, but a coating of slushy snow Monday underneath 2 to 3 inches of new snow could cause icy road conditions.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports that roads in Kandiyohi County, and much of west central Minnesota, are in difficult driving condition. MnDOT reports that areas of U.S. Highway 71 have heavy snow and hazardous driving conditions.
