MnDOT closes Highway 19 west of Marshall due to blowing and drifting snow

WILLMAR -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol tonight have closed state Highway 19 west of Marshall to Ivanhoe in southwestern Minnesota due to blowing and drifting snow making the highway impassable.

Motorists are advised not to travel in this area until conditions improve and MnDOT crews can make progress to recover the roadways.

Motorists should plan accordingly.

When a road is closed, it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties may apply.
