Dawson-Boyd Schools receive Minnesota Legacy Amendment grant

ST. PAUL -- Dawson-Boyd Public Schools has received a $34,569 Legacy Amendment grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

The award was announced Friday by state Rep. Andrew Falk, DFL-Murdock.

The competitive grant will allow students, teachers and community members of the Dawson-Boyd School District to learn about respect in new ways with artists Perrin Boyd and Ross Sutter, according to a news release from Falk.

"I am pleased the Dawson-Boyd School District project rose to the top in the grant process," Falk said in the release. "The artists use creativity to teach about an important issue."

Legacy Amendment arts and cultural heritage funds are used to support arts and arts access, arts education, and arts and cultural heritage throughout Minnesota. The funding comes from a statewide sales tax approved as a constitutional amendment in 2008.
