Blizzard warning downgraded in west central Minn.

WILLMAR -- The blizzard warning for parts of west central Minnesota has been downgraded to a winter storm warning.

Heavy snow will still occur overnight, the National Weather Service in Chanhassen says, but winds will not be strong enough to cause widespread whiteout conditions.

The winter storm warning remains in effect across central Minnesota through Wednesday evening. Sustained winds are still in the forecast, creating low visibilities at times through Wednesday. Brief whiteout conditions are possible.

The Weather Service says there will be a wide range of snowfall totals across the area from this system with a sharp division along a line from Morris to St. Cloud to Rice Lake, Wis. Totals of 6 to 12 inches are likely north of this line with much lesser amounts south of this line and less than an inch near the Iowa and Minnesota border.
