Watkins., Minn., teen in Meeker County Jail, arrested in connection to weekend injury crash
LITCHFIELD -- A 19-year-old Watkins man has been arrested on charges of criminal vehicular operation in connection to an early morning rollover crash Saturday that injured a 18-year-old teen.
According to a news release from Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, Michael K. Downham was arrested today and is in the county jail awaiting formal charges and his first court appearance.
The investigation into this crash learned that Downham was operating a 1996 GMC Jimmy owned by Ernest Junker of Eden Valley, that Downham had permission for the use of this vehicle, and that there was only one other passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, identified as Caramon Hansen.
Hansen was transported by Watkins Ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital after he sought help at an address near the accident site around 3:45 a.m. Saturday. The crash happened just northwest of Watkins, at the intersection of Meeker-Stearns Street and 667th Avenue.
