Live music, movies coming to outdoors in Milan

MILAN — Live music and the movies are coming to the outdoors in Milan.

PlaceBase Productions, Greater Milan Initiative, Milan Teen Center and Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership present "Music & Movies in Milan!" in Burns Park in Milan from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday.

This free, family friendly event will include an ice cream social, lawn games, photo booth, community sing-along, jam session, live music and an outdoor screening of "Back to the Future!" Everyone is welcome.

Rain location will be the the old school at 408 Fourth Street in Milan.

The night will include an ice cream social from 6 to 8 p.m., as well as lawn games and a photo booth. At 7 p.m. will be a community sing-along and jam session. At 7:30 p.m. there will be live music with local musicians and PlaceBase Productions' Ashley Hanson and Andrew Gaylord. At 8:30 p.m. there will be the outdoor movie.

"Music & Movies in Milan!" is part of a series of events gearing up for PlaceBase Productions' original, community-based theater production, "Milan: The Musical!" that will take place in and around Milan this October. Information about auditions (taking place in August) will be available at the event.

Attendees are encouraged to bring an instrument and a favorite sing-a-long song. Ashley Hanson and Andrew Gaylord of PlaceBase Productions will lead the community sing-a-long and jam session. They will also share a few songs from past productions and will give a sneak peak of songs from their upcoming production in Milan. Local musicians will also be invited to share songs prior to the movie. Musicians can sign-up for a slot between 6 and 7p.m. at the event. Not a musician? Come to sing-along or just to listen.
