Update: Fatal accident reported in Meeker County

UPDATE: EDEN VALLEY – A Watkins woman was killed and two teenaged girls were injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday night in Meeker County.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

According to the State Patrol, just before 9 p.m. a 2012 Dodge Avenger SE driven by a 16-year old girl was going north on County Road 34 near Eden Valley when it failed to stop at a stop sign.

The vehicle collided with a 2010 Dodge Caravan, driven by a 75-year-old woman from Watkins, that was going west on state Highway 55.

The driver of the Avenger and a 15-year-old passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

 More detailed information and the names of the victims and who was killed or injured are expected to be released later.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department, Eden Valley Police Department, Eden Valley Fire, Gold Cross and Watkins Ambulance responded to the scene of the crash.

EDEN VALLEY – A two-vehicle accident Tuesday night in Meeker County has resulted in at least one fatality.

According to the State Patrol, just before 9 p.m. a 2012 Dodge Avenger SE driven by a 16-year old girl was going north on County Road 34 near Eden Valley when it failed to stop at a stop sign.

The vehicle collided with a 2010 Dodge Caravan, driven by a 75-year-old woman, that was going west on state Highway 55.

The 16-year-old driver of the Avenger was taken to the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield but according to the State Patrol’s preliminary report a 15-year-old passenger in the car was not taken to a hospital.

The driver of the Caravan, who was from Watkins, was also not taken to the hospital, according to the State Patrol.

More detailed information and the names of the victims and who was killed or injured are expected to be released later.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department, Eden Valley Police Department, Eden Valley Fire, Gold Cross and Watkins Ambulance responded to the scene of the crash.
