Victim in fatal Meeker County crash identified

EDEN VALLEY – A Watkins woman was killed and two teenaged girls were injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday night in Meeker County after the teen driver failed to stop for a stop sign.

The State Patrol said Florance Deheer, 75, of Watkins, died in the crash near Eden Valley.

Deheer was driving a 2010 Dodge Caravan west on state Highway 55 shortly before 9 p.m. when a 2012 Dodge Avenger SE that was going north on Meeker County Road 34 failed to stop at a stop sign.

The 16-year-old driver of the Avenger and a 15-year-old passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Their names have not yet been released because of the ongoing investigation.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department, Eden Valley Police Department, Eden Valley Fire, Gold Cross and Watkins Ambulance responded to the scene of the crash.
