Update: Villard man killed in Pope County crash

GLENWOOD — A 75-year-old Villard man was killed in a two-vehicle fatal crash around 10:30 a.m. this morning along State Highway 28 south of Villard in Pope County.

According to the State Patrol, Clifford W. Euerle was driving westbound in a 1998 Buick on 150th Street, stopped at the stop sign and then pulled onto Highway 28 into the path of a southbound 2003 Ford pickup driven by James R. Hoppe, 51, of Freeport.

Hoppe was not injured. Also responding were the Glenwood police, fire and ambulance crews, Villard fire and first responders, Starbuck Ambulance and the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.
