Horses, dogs surrendered to Humane Society by Darwin woman
DARWIN — Six horses and nine dogs were surrendered by a Darwin woman Wednesday evening after law enforcement and Kandiyohi County Humane Society officials responded to a rural Darwin address.
According to Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, deputies and Humane Society agents responded around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday to the residence of Bridget Scharafanow, 24918 County Road 14.
Scharafanow signed a voluntary waiver of rights for the animals over to the Humane Society agents. All six horses that were at the residence were seized and nine of 12 dogs were surrendered. All animals were transported to the Kandiyohi County Humane Society.
The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
