Homeless man found dead Sunday on Bemidji street

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- A 54-year-old Bemidji man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle at the 800 block of Paul Bunyan Drive South, which runs between Lake Bemidji and Lake Irving.

Police responded to the accident at 4:48 a.m. Sunday and found Andrew Willard Reed, 54, lying in the northbound traffic lane, police said in a press release. Reed suffered a significant head injury and was pronounced dead by members of the Bemidji Ambulance Service.

No details on the vehicle or other persons involved in the crash have been released. The police department was assisted in the investigation by a Minnesota State Patrol accident reconstruction specialist
