One killed Monday in collision near Bemidji

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident north of Bemidji on Monday.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 1997 Chrysler Town and Country was entering U.S. Highway 71 just after 1 p.m. when it was struck by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by Jason Stubbe, 27, of Bemidji.

The driver of the Chrysler was killed in the accident, the patrol said. The victim's name had not been released Monday.

Stubbe was transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center with serious injuries, the patrol said. According to the patrol, Stubbe was wearing his seatbelt and the air bag in his vehicle did deploy.

Road conditions were listed as icy, the patrol said.
