State’s new safety campaign tells motorists to put away phones while driving in construction work zones

Motorists in Minnesota are asked to put away cell phones while driving in road construction work zones in the newest Toward Zero Deaths campaign.
“We hope this campaign helps raise awareness and makes people think twice before picking up their phone in a work zone,” said Kristine Hernandez, statewide TZD coordinator, in a news release.
Toward Zero Deaths is a partnership between the departments of Health, Transportation and Public Safety to promote safe driving, enforce laws and to have quick response times to emergency situations.
Signs, radio advertisements and billboards are being designed for the current campaign with the message “Orange Cones. No Phones.” to remind drivers to put away their phones and prevent unnecessary injuries and deaths in work zones.
