Power restoration crews make progress in Dakotas

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Power outages in the Dakotas in the wake of storms that brought ice, snow and strong winds have dropped to about 4,600 rural electric customers.

The most recent estimates show about 1,920 households without power in North Dakota, and about 2,700 in South Dakota.

Cold weather continued to blanket the two states today, with the combination of low temperatures and wind making it feel as cold as 35 degrees below zero overnight. The National Weather Service posted wind chill advisories for most of North Dakota and for eastern South Dakota this morning.
