LUVERNE — The Yellow Medicine East girls tennis team split a pair of matches at the Luverne triangular on Monday.

The Sting defeated Pipeston 6-1 and fell to Luverne 5-2.

Britanna Raddatz at 3-singles and Jordan Trotter and Sandy Bartels at 1-doubles picked up two victories.

Benson toppled Wadena-Deer Creek 4-3 and blanked Parkers Prairie 7-0 before falling 5-2 to the host Mainstreeters Monday in its first matches of the season.

Raquel Curriel won all three of her matches at 3-singles for the Braves, who are at the New London-Spicer Triangular today. Also going 3-0 for Benson was 3-doubles, which consisted of Samantha Payne, Kellie Enderson and Gracie Grussing.

Litchfield opened its prep season by finishing seventh amongst eight teams Monday.

Junior Lauren Knisley had the high finish for the Dragons by placing second at 3-singles with a 2-1 record. Every other position for Litchfield went 1-2.
