College Volleyball: Warriors fall in national championship match

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- The Ridgewater volleyball played tough but couldn't get past Harper in the NJCAA Division III national championship match on Saturday at the Regional Sports Center.

Harper prevailed 25-21, 25-22, 25-19 and finished 43-1. Ridgewater finished the season 26-6.

It was Ridgewater's 10th trip to the national championship match since 1998 and it was the Warriors' sixth runner-up finish. They won national championships in 2011, 2010, 2006 and 2002. They placed third twice.

On Saturday, Ashley Froelich led the Warriors with 11 kills and Kiana Johnson had 10. Baylie Kubesh had 19 set assists and 14 digs and Jamie Goblirsch had six assists and 15 digs.

Kathryn Novy had nine kills and Marielle Lugo had eight for Harper.
