Motorcyclist hurt in crash with deer

OLIVIA — A 58-year-old Tyler man was injured when his motorcycle collided with a deer at 3 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 212 in Renville County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Randal Theo Vanderpoel was transported to Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for non-life-threatening injuries.

Vanderpoel was driving a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 212 near the intersection with Renville County Road 37 when he collided with the deer. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the accident report.

The Renville County and Yellow Medicine County sheriff's offices assisted at the scene.

Vandalism

WILLMAR — The owner of a semi-truck reported Saturday that it had been shot at and a window broken while parked with other trucks at a location on the 13000 block of 15th Street Southwest in Willmar.

Burglary

WILLMAR — Items taken from a garage and vehicle during the night on Friday were discovered the next morning in an alley behind the location on the 1000 block of Fourth Street Southwest in Willmar.

Injury

NEW LONDON — The New London ambulance responded to a call that a 13-year-old boy had two fingers injured, possibly severed, in an accident involving a trailer at 1:32 p.m. Saturday at a location in Sibley State Park in rural New London.

Theft

WILLMAR — A suspect described as a Hispanic male wearing a Vikings jersey was reported to have fled the Aldi store on the 400 block of 19th Avenue Southeast in Willmar with an armful of steaks at 7:48 p.m. Saturday.
