Fatal lawn mower accident

FAIRFAX — A Renville County man was killed Friday after being trapped under a riding lawn mower.

The victim was identified as Dennis M. Blumhoefer, 67, of rural Fairfax.

According to the Renville County Sheriff's Office, Blumhoefer was cutting grass near a road ditch on a farm site three miles north of Fairfax. At some point, he became trapped underneath the mower and wasn't able to free himself.

Law enforcement received a 911 call at 1:29 p.m. Friday reporting the incident.

Once the lawn mower was removed, lifesaving efforts were initiated. Despite those efforts Blumhoefer was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Renville County Sheriff's Office.

Assisting at the scene were the Fairfax Ambulance Service, Fairfax Fire and Rescue and Life Link III.

Accident injures six from Litchfield

PIPESTONE — The drivers of two vehicles and four young passengers were injured when a vehicle rear-ended a semi Monday morning.

The accident was reported at 11:20 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 75 near Pipestone.

According to the State Patrol, a 2006 Freightliner semi driven by Todd Kenneth Johnson, 52, of Litchfield, was stopped in the traffic lane with a signal activated to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Nellya Lynn Nelson, 25, of Litchfield.

Johnson and Nelson were taken to the Pipestone County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Four young children in Nelson's vehicle: Richard Fitting, infant, of Litchfield; Bradley Nelson, 2, of Litchfield; Savannah Nelson, infant, of Litchfield; and Lillian Sceuermann, 5, of Litchfield, were also taken to the Pipestone hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Pipestone County Sheriff's Office, Pipestone Ambulance and Pipestone Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene of the accident.

Arrest

WILLMAR — A 39-year-old man who was found sleeping Monday morning at the Flags of Honor on North Business 71 in Willmar was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Hennepin County related to a case of criminal vehicular homicide.

Vandalism

RAYMOND — The rear window of a vehicle was reported broken at 11 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Babcock Avenue East in Raymond.

WILLMAR — A citizen told police they had a Snapchat video of kids throwing rocks at windows at a Willmar business. The incident was reported at 3:33 p.m. Sunday.

WILLMAR — Windows on a semi were shot at and broken. The incident was reported at 11 a.m. Sunday in the 13000 block of 15th Street Southwest in Willmar.

Assault

WILLMAR — Police were notified at 11 a.m. Monday of a report of a sexual assault Friday at a location on Lakeland Drive Southeast in Willmar.

Theft

WILLMAR — A battery was reported stolen from a vehicle at 11:18 a.m. Monday from a garage in the 600 block of Third Street Southeast in Willmar.
