Cash Wise to build 4th store in Fargo-Moorhead metro at site of proposed outlet mall

FARGO—Cash Wise will build its fourth grocery store in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area at the site of a proposed new outlet mall in south Fargo.

Kevin Hurd, communications and engagement specialist for parent company Coborn’s, confirmed that Cash Wise plans to build a 60,000-square-foot grocery store at the site just north of 52nd Avenue South and east of Interstate 29, along with a freestanding liquor store, fuel pumps, car wash and a drive-thru Caribou Coffee. Construction is expected to start this year, with a target opening in mid-2018.

Cash Wise already has three others stores in Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead.

But the chain's plans for its newest store are notable especially because of the location, which puts it on the northeastern corner of the proposed Fargo Outlets at Timber Creek shopping center now being planned by Property Resources Group.

It could also be the first building to start construction at that site, a large piece of land visible from both I-29 and 52nd Avenue South northeast of a Walmart store.

PRG President Kevin Christianson confirmed Monday that Cash Wise's store will be built on part of the land that is planned for this outlet mall. Plans for the outlet mall itself haven't yet been "cast in stone," he said, and the team is still working on finalizing those details.

Cash Wise currently also has seven grocery stores in Minnesota and 10 in North Dakota, according to its company website.
